V is for Victory, Versatility and Vujacic

Lakers vs. Celtics Vujacic and Versatility go together as shown in his performance against the Celtics in a Laker win. He entered the game in the second quarter and proceeded to play defense against the number one and two guards and later against both the forwards.

On a tapped ball from Kobe to Ariza in the frontcourt he followed the play and received a pass from Ariza as he was leaving the court. Sasha dunked it and made the foul an electrified the fans. He went on to gather 8 pts and Kobe scored for a 16 to 5 run that changed the game. He also showed his ability to defend the big men and box out on the boards; He is much quicker than the big men on the fast break and gets back to defend.

This type of versatility is not usual with men his size. But his future is bright. Kobe cited him as one of the players who has made a big stride this year and is part of the reason the Lakers are playing better. Tonight his shooting was down so he was not in the game the last five minutes He also ran the offense from the point guard setting up the triangle offense. The Lakers ran an overload with four on the left and isolated Fischer on the right for one on ones. Then they overloaded and he got the ball to Kobe to get him some shots, as a forward he showed an affinity for going with out the ball which means he was in constant motion. I will explain this in a future analysis.

Sasha was also hit by Garnett on a cheap shot while defending him. It also was a very physical game and he wasn’t afraid to mix it up. In fact the whole Laker team seemed to show the Celtics there was not going to be any more 39 point losses to the Celtics. Sashas only poor play was when he was backed door on a pass to a lay up. This happens sometimes when you overplay your man and he goes behind you to the basket for a lay up. By the way; his back was back all game.

V is for Victory, Versatility and Vujacic. Go Lakers.
