Sometimes cheering just isn’t enough. Here are three fans who wanted to make their devotion to Sasha Vujacic absolutely clear. If Sasha looked up and saw their signs during the game, he was surely boosted by their support.
Right after Phil Jackson told the press that Sasha “didn’t have a brain,” I thought, “Sasha needs some support!” So I looked for some tickets down by the bench for the very next home game and made my little sign saying, “Sasha has heart.” Since he had a season-high game that night, I had many chances to raise my sign high with pride!
Cristina Gonzales: I’m a Vuja-Chick
The Lakers vs. Bobcats game on January 27 was extra special because I received the tickets as a birthday present. I made a Sasha and a Pau Gasol poster. Jokingly, I flagged the camera guy down and he ran up to me, saw my poster and smiled. He then told me to “be ready in one minute” and I got so exited I ALMOST cried. I must’ve been on that Jumbotron for at LEAST 10+ seconds and then they zoomed in on Sasha smiling at my poster! Everyone was laughing and cheering. It was such an incredulous feeling. All I wanted was for him to see my poster and my birthday wish came true!
Denise School: Happy 24th Birthday!
Since it was the day after Sasha’s birthday (March 9, 2008), I had a friend help me make a giant happy birthday sign for Sasha and my brother, Victor, helped me sneak it into the Staples Center. Unfortunately, it didn’t make it on camera, but I did pull it out and cheer with it during parts of the game. We had seats that were the farthest and highest away from the court, so thankfully I wasn’t blocking anyone’s view. I still have the poster; it was hanging in my room for the longest time.

All these signs are sooo cool and each with their own unique story! Wow, Anji with her lovely heart sign, Denise who still had her poster from last year and actually put her sign up in her room! And Cristina, I was at that game and saw her and her sign on the big Jumbotron AND the great big smile that Sasha shined at us made it all worth going to the game! Thanks to Cristina for making him smile!!

omg. I made a sign for sasha at the golden state game last thursday, I sat courtside so I can only assume sasha saw it. I know everyone else saw it since I got to make it on da big screen at the staples center !

Cristina story is awesome. That was great that she was able to go to the game and show off her poster on screen. then to have Sasha see it and smile well thats awesome.. Cristina if you read this by chance were you at the Sasha singing at Foot locker?? I think me and my friend were in line with you. I came right on time though and you were in line with her most of the time.

I was actually at that game with the “I’m a VUJA-CHICK” sign and I thought that was the best sign I have ever seen by far! And ya, you totally made him smile! GOOD JOB Christina! Great sign!
