Raquel Becerra is a 14 year old student and is the only Laker fan in her family. She says that her family will occasionally watch the games with her, but none are as dedicated as she is. Raquel always diligently finishes watching a game in its entirety, before leaving the house.

How long have you been a fan?

I grew up watching Laker games, and have been a fan of Sasha’s since 2006.

What was it about Sasha that first caught your attention?

His way of playing. He showed a lot of passion for the game and looked like a hard worker. He never gave up on anything.

What are some of your favorite things about Sasha?

There is a lot to like about Sasha. I like that he never gives up. He is a hard working player. I like his hair and his smile.

Do you have a lot of friends that are Laker fans?

In school there are some fans, but not die-hard Laker fans. My friends all know that I love them so when I get to school and it is a day after a game, they all come running to me to see what I have to say about the game.

How do people feel about you being a Sasha fan?

My sister and her boyfriend took me to Fiesta Lakers and when we were waiting for the hosts to introduce the players on to the stage, they called out Sasha and I started to cry and scream. My whole family laughs at me when they see me scream for Sasha when he is on television.

Do you have a favorite Sasha moment or game?

I went to the last game of the season with my sister and her boyfriend. I made a huge Sasha poster that said “GO SASHA A.K.A. THE MACHINE,” and he actually saw it and waved.

If you could say one thing to Sasha what would it be?

I would probably faint if I ever had to say anything to him but I would try to say something like “You are a great player and I thank God that we have you on the Laker team. Thank you for all your hard work and the enthusiasm you show. You really inspire me to never give up and to try hard to achieve something I want to accomplish.”
