Post-game report: Sasha vs. Nuggets (02/05/2010)

Post-game report: Sasha vs. Nuggets (02/05/2010)On Friday night, the Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Denver Nuggets at Staples Center. Unfortunately, the Carmelo-less Nuggets won against the Lakers with a score of 126-113.

Among the highlights of the game, the Lakers allowed Nuggets’ guard Chauncy Billups scored a career-high of 39 points with 9 three-pointers. The Lakers’ 8-game winning streak at home was snapped.

Lakers head coach Phil Jackson began the game with the usual starters: Kobe Bryant, Derek Fisher, Ron Artest, Pau Gasol, and Andrew Bynum. Nuggets head coach, George Karl started with Chauncy Billups, Aaron Afflalo, Nene Hilario, Kenyon Martin, and Joey Graham.

Billups proved to be a challenge as he scored 21 points in the third quarter alone; the most any one player has scored against the Lakers in one period since Wilt Chamberlain of the Sixers in 1966. He also four consecutive three pointers late in the second quarter to give the Nuggets an 87-85 lead. The injured Kobe Bryant finished the game with 33 points, including 4 three pointers of his own.

As the game progressed, it seemed as if the Lakers could not match the Nugget’s energy and intensity. Off the bench, Nugget J.R. Smith also scored a whipping 27 points and Ty Lawson with 13 points.

It is usually said that a team missing one of their star players plays harder. And well, for Friday night’s game, Carmelo Anthony’s absence might have proven that belief.

Our very own Sasha Vujacic was productive in the game and finished with 11:19 minutes, 4 points, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 1 rebound.

Sasha played terrible this game. 1-6. Sasha take it easy and stick to coming off screens like you did in 08. You just camp all day till the ball come to you. YOU ARE A SHOOTING GUARD! Your not a threat if you just stand in the corner and hopefully your defender will help off of you. No, that is complete bull. Relax and ease up on the mental mistakes.

Notice eon your second basket you pump faked and stepped into a 2 pointer. DO MORE OF THAT! defenders expect you to shoot.

Notice on your third basket you got aggressive and jab stepped for space. YOU ARE WAY AUTOMATIC FROM 2 POINT RANGE NOT THREEE! I’m telling you, if you take more of those mid range two’s you can easily average 8-12 points a game. You also have 2 twin tower 7 footers to bail you out.

4th basket nice jab step to get space, but you are camping! but good shot.

5th basket. IF YOU WANT THREES THIS IS HOW YOU GET THEM. You mad a nice curl around to get the ball for a shot. But when you cut nowadays you are cutting AWAY from he ball not towards it. again making you a non threat. Shannon and farmarr are going to shoot so you are going to have to be aggressive when the ball is in your hands.

6th basket, another cut TOWARDS the ball and bam you used your quick release to get off a good shot. Notice the stress on the towards.

7th basket your just camping. You cant do that any more Sasha! Defenders know you can shoot now thats why I say shoot more jumpers and get to the line. there is a reason Phil Jackson puts you out to shoot technicals because your a good shooter now all you got to do is play smart.

All the baskets im referring to is in this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EWJ6F7WKlE
